When you started your business, you were living the dream by working from home. Working in your pajamas plus no commute is pretty great!
(Until you realize you haven’t showered, and it’s almost 2:00, and the kids will be home soon and how will you get your work done?! Calm down.)
Your business is growing now and you may find yourself spending less time working from home due to constant client meetings, or interruptions at home. For a while, this may have been tolerable [startup life isn’t supposed to be glamorous], but when you start to realize that it is those distractions – and always having to be on the road for meetings, rather than having a central office where people can come to you – that are holding your business back from growing any further.
How do you know when it is time to make the next step by renting office space? The truth is, only you will know when it is time to take your business to the next level. But here are a few of the many advantages to having your own professional office space:
Centerco‘s office environment projects an air of professionalism, with a receptionist to greet your guests, beautifully appointed offices and conference space – all at a cost that is affordable for a growing business. When you’re trying to land a new client, you want them to know how successful you are, and nothing says success like a professional space or satellite office for your business.
When your business requires face-to-face meetings with your clients, you will want a place clients can come to if needed. Meeting at coffee shops is not ideal when talking about sensitive information with your client, but it can also be a huge waste of time – moving from coffee shop to coffee shop – driving from place to place to meet with your clients. One of our community members reported that moving her office to Centerco saves her an average of 5 to 10 hours each week she would be spending on the road. At her billable rate, getting that time back more than pays for the cost of her monthly rent.
For many, this is one of the top reasons for moving out of the home office. Having the ability to work from an interruption-free zone is priceless for some entrepreneurs. Also, you have to consider that your family dynamic may change. If a spouse takes on a new career path, he or she may also work from home. As your family grows, so do your interruptions. Being too distracted often leads to dropping the ball on projects and decreased productivity.
While some work well alone, others thrive off of working around and with others. The great part about having your own office space is that you can have the best of both worlds. At Centerco, those in our business community often have their doors open or work in open areas. If you are a “people person” you may love having people pop into your office while your door is open or simply working alongside others. Centerco provides an environment that encourages collaboration and growth by working with other like-minded entrepreneurs in our community.
Take your business to the next level
Having your own office space gives you the ability to work in our conference rooms and have a professional home for your business. Once you get employees, it is important for them to work together. While your home may be welcoming, there are laws that may not allow you to run a home based business with more than one employee. Being able to work next to your employees rather than emailing them constantly is a relief. It also contributes to a large morale boost when your employees feel they have a place they can go to and get work done. Having an office space will also give you the ability to attract larger clients. When working in an environment that suits you is when you can perform your best. When you are at your best, there is nothing stopping you from going after your ideal clients. See how growing at Centerco has benefitted others in our business community here.
