Pack a lunch.

If you’re already short on time, stopping to pick up lunch can be a big interruption. Packing a lunch not only saves time during the workday; it allows you to have healthier choices available (and it’s easier on your wallet too).

Plan ahead.

If you have a lunch meeting, scope out the menu beforehand. When you have a healthy option in mind, it’s easier to avoid temptation when ordering. You’re more likely to choose the bacon cheeseburger with fries if you arrive hungry and have to spend the time to find a healthier choice.

Bring your own sides.

Some days fast food may seem like the only option. Bring healthy side items, such as an apple, carrot sticks or yogurt, in the car with you. They’re easy to pair with your entrée and won’t leave you dragging later like high-fat side items will.

Pack snacks.

When balancing a hectic schedule, meals can easily get delayed. Be sure to pack snacks to keep hunger at bay until you have time to eat a meal. Fruit, nuts and granola bars keep well in a purse or brief case. If you can bring an insulated lunchbox, cheese sticks, low-fat yogurt or even a half sandwich are also great options.

Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Try to wait no more than 4-5 hours without a meal or snack. You’ll be more able to maintain concentration plus avoid becoming over-hungry at meals, which can lead to overindulgence.

Healthy eating doesn’t have to take a back seat to a busy schedule and growing business. A little planning and a few smart tricks will keep you functioning at 100 percent!
